It's auction time again!! We're so excited about the wonderful items being offered in this year's Spring Auction. All proceeds raised in the auction will go towards finishing the Education Building at Tusubira Village- a building that, when finished, will open up accommodations for visiting teams working within our community. These teams (teachers, medical professionals, hydrologists and agriculture experts to name a few) will directly impact the success of our program- so we REALLY want to finish this building. It will also house our social worker who facilitates all programs currently run through Tusubira Village. She is responsible for work that empowers the women of this community- so she's kind of a big deal. We have about $16,000 left to raise in order to finish and furnish this building and every dollar brings us closer to being able to complete it. So thank you for bidding, thank you for donating and thank you for being a part of this exciting work~
So- the details!
1. The auction will begin first thing Friday morning, May 19th. It will close at 3 pm PST on Saturday May 20th. The last bid at that time will be the winning bid.
2. To place your bid, leave the $ amount and your email address in the comments under each item. If we don't have your email address we can't contact you.
3. THE WINNING BIDDER WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR SHIPPING COSTS. Items will be shipped from the United States unless otherwise stated.
4. The winning bidder will have 24 hours to submit their winning bid to the Grow Hope foundation. If after 24 hours the winning bid hasn't been submitted, the second highest winning bid will become the winning bid.
Good luck and happy bidding!
Title: “THE PRESENT MOMENT”
(2016)
Watercolor, Oil Pastel, Gold Pen, Graphite on 140lb Archival Cold Pressed Watercolor Paper
9" x 9" framed
This series is representative of each moment in our lives. The “pods” are drawn with both my right and left hands (I am naturally right handed) to get me out of my comfort zone and also be as present as possible while setting up the work with repetitive shapes. Watercolor and oil pastel fill the “pods” with color, chaos, and some are left empty. This is reflective of our days-some are filled with beauty and color, some are empty and lonely. When you step back and gain perspective a cohesive painting forms. I hope when you see this painting you are reminded to be present and embrace whatever is happening. These moments do not last forever and they are working together to make a more interesting narrative for your life."

This is a beautiful hand made 18x18" gray, gold and cream decorative throw pillow. It is my modern design based off the traditional "vintage star" quilt block. After sewing the pieces I hand painted a simple geometric design with a gold fabric paint over the "quilt top." I then hand quilted the pillow top in cream thread. The back is gray and cream with two gold painterly stripes. All the painted lines throughout the pillow are purposefully impressionistic and textural. The closure is an invisible zipper.
I have spent many many hours on this pillow! I love the craft and skill and exactness of the sewn lines combined with the painterly, textural “perfectly imperfect” lines of the hand painting. This pillow is truly an heirloom work of art and craft.
Care: Please keep out of direct sunlight. Please spot clean as needed. If necessary, machine wash on cold/delicate and lay flat to dry. Iron on low. After washing, quilts develop a slight “puckering” or wrinkling. This characteristic is embraced, desired and part of the “quilt look.” This will happen to this pillow after washing and add to its handmade charm.
Pillow is 100% cotton. Pillow insert is poly fiber. All fabrics have been prewashed.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask!

"This was originally a small monthly dues stamp booklet from the 1940's. Inside I have painted a road scene with a special sentiment typed on my old typewriter. The booklet is about 5" x 5" when opened. I have included a pretty ribbon and tag so the booklet can be given as a special gift to someone away from home."
